Nino Kovačić is a freelance author, film programmer and production associate at film festivals, and an independent cultural worker with a long-term experience in film and theatre projects and the media. He mostly works, or has collaborated, in programming, program coordination and event production at Animafest, ZagrebDox, Zagreb Film Festival, 25fps, Croatian Film Days and others in Croatia, as well as Kaboom, Cinekid, IDFA and IRFF in the Netherlands.

He graduated Comparative Literature and History in Zagreb and Comparative History at in Budapest, with both film-related master theses. He is a member of Croatian Film Critics Society and international FIPRESCI, being a jury member at more than ten festival juries (Jeruzalem FF, Krakow FF, GoEast, IDFA…) He writes for relevant film and culture media, publishing film critiques and articles in specialized film magazines (Filmonaut, Hrvatski Filmski Ljetopis, Zapis…) online (tportal, Zona filma, kulturpunkt, Jutarnji list…) and the Croatian Radio.

As a film educator, he organised and had been teaching at numerous film analysis workshops, foremostly for children and youth, but also students and older generations.

He occasionally works on film sets, for example as locations manager and production assistant at the award-winning film Safe Place (2022).

Besides Croatian, he actively uses English, German and Slovenian, and is currently living and working between Zagreb and Amsterdam.
